EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FOR LOCAL FOOD PRODUCERS AND ARTISANS TO REGISTER THEIR INTEREST IN SELLING THEIR LOCAL PRODUCTS DURING THE FESTA IKEL MALTI IN CELEBRATION OF WORLD FOOD DAY 2024.
Introduction In the spirit of a global celebration of World Food Day, the MALTA FOOD AGENCY is pleased to announce a unique event, Festa Ikel Malti, dedicated to showcasing local food, ingredients, traditional crafts and the talented hawkers who bring these vibrant events to life.
This is an excellent opportunity for local farmers to showcase their products to a broad audience and be part of an event that emphasises the importance of sustainable and locally-sourced food. We are now inviting hawkers to submit their proposals to participate in this event. Successful applicants will be provided with a designated stall area at no charge, and they will retain all revenue generated from their sales.
This day long outdoor event is scheduled to take place at the Pitkalija Grounds on the 20th of October 2024 from 10:00 – 17:00.
In the eventuality of changes to the above-mentioned schedule, the selected applicants shall be given a two-week prior notice.
Disclaimer: Prospective applicants are to note that by submitting an application as specified below, they are confirming agreement to all the terms and conditions set out in this Expression of Interest. Applicants should also note that the MALTA FOOD AGENCY will respect any restrictions published by the local Health Authorities on the organisation of public events.
Guidelines Applicants must provide a proposal which includes a list of the products that they will be selling. The Agency will provide successful applicants with a stall at the Pitkalija free of charge. The local products offered in the stalls may include but shall not be limited to, the following:
• Locally packaged products such as olive oil, ġulepp tal-ħarrub, honey, chutneys, sauces, syrups, and related products • Meat • Fish and seafood • Fruits and vegetables • Local bread and bakery • Traditional delicacies (savoury) • Local sweets (traditional desserts, honey rings, ħelu tal-festi, imqaret etc…) • Locally produced vegan and vegetarian products • Locally produced beverages • Local traditional crafts
The successful applicants shall retain all income generated from sales.
Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
Instructions To Prospective Applicants • Prospective applicants are to submit a duly filled in and endorsed Application Form that includes all requested details and documents. • Prospective applicants are to ensure that the contact’s name on the Application Form is that of the individual who, if successful, shall enter into an agreement with the MALTA FOOD AGENCY for participation during the Festa Ikel Malta for the World Food Day. • By submitting the Application Form, it is understood that the applicant has read and is in agreement with the terms and conditions of this Expression of Interest and affirms all declarations. No conditions and alterations to the requirements listed in this document shall be introduced /imposed by the applicant on the MALTA FOOD AGENCY. • Multiple offers may be accepted as long as separate submissions are affected. • Collaborations with other chefs/producers are permitted, however the Applicant shall remain the sole responsible party related to this application and any subsequent communication /agreement. • Each applicant must be at least 18 years of age at the time of application. • Each applicant must have a valid VAT number.
Terms and conditions. Event Participation: Selected vendors are expected to be present and operational throughout the entire duration of the event. The applicant must only sell items as agreed and respect the instructions that may be given by the Contracting Authority both before and after the activity. Stalls: The MALTA FOOD AGENCY is responsible for setting up the stalls. • All products-for-sale must be supplied by the vendors themselves unless otherwise agreed.• Each stall must clearly display a price list for each item for sale in a prominent area where the public can easily see it. Prices must comply with local regulations.• Signage/branding/adverts promoting non-Maltese products are strictly prohibited.• A parking space can be arranged by MALTA FOOD AGENCY for storage purposes, and this will be close but off site. Income Retention: Vendors will retain all revenue from their sales during the event. Insurance: Vendors are required to hold valid public liability insurance and any other necessary coverage to operate at the event. Proof of insurance must be provided upon signing the participation agreement. Compliance: Failure to comply with local regulations or event guidelines may result in immediate expulsion from the event without compensation. • All things related to food for sale must comply with the local sanitary regulations established by the authorities and the applicant must have all the necessary licenses and permits to sell the product. These permits can be requested at any time by the Contracting Authority. • All Maltese Laws relevant to the activity must be observed by the chosen economic operator. • The Contracting Authority shall not be involved in any legal dispute as a result of the operations of the economic operator(s) in relation to the event. • MALTA FOOD AGENCY shall not be held responsible, under any circumstances, for any damage or theft that may occur including penalties issued by competent authorities during the event.
